Description: Farmingville (2004) is a ninety minute documentary about a sprawling Long Island suburb and the conflict that played out there between undocumented Latino day laborers looking for work and their supporters and other local residents who tried to drive the workers away. The documentary was filmed between 2001 and 2003 and was written, produced, directed and filmed by Carlos Sandoval and Catherine Tambini. The documentary subsequently garnered high acclaim, numerous awards and screenings at film festivals. This collection documents the production and post-production of Farmingville and illustrates the events that took place and individuals involved on both sides of the issue. Of interest to researchers of Latino immigration issues, early 21st century Long Island history and the documentary filmmaking process, the collection is made up of electronic media and paper records, news clippings, research files and interviews.
