Work of Polygraphus rufipennis

Detail of damage done by Polygraphus rufipennis, commonly known as a bark beetle. This type of beetle often attack trees that are valuable to the lumber industry. Dr. Blackman collected this specimen during the College's summer camp at Cranberry Lake in the Adirondack Mountains.
