Work of Crypturgus atomus in Spruce

Detail of damage done by crypturgus atomus to a spruce tree. Beetles of this type caused damage to trees valuable to the lumber industry. Dr. Blackman collected this sample while at the College of Forestry's summer camp at Cranberry Lake in the Adirondack Mountains.
