Press Release - Attorney General Eliot Spitzer on Long Island Anti-Immigrant Conference, 8/3/01

Press release expressing General Eliot Spitzer's concern about a meeting of "national groups that oppose U.S. immigration policies" in Suffolk County, where tensions were already high over day laborers in the county. In the press release, Spitzer supported the right of these groups to meet and express their views, but stated clearly that he does not agree with them. He asked that statements and actions be carefully considered, and that any dialogue be nonhostile.
