Governor Hugh L. Carey passes the football during Pumpkin Bowl I.

The Pumpkin Bowl was an annual football game featuring Governor Carey and his staff (The Excelsiors) facing off against reporters from the Albany Times Union (The Eagles). The Times Union won Pumpkin Bowl I, 21-7. The game took place at the State Correctional Academy on New Scotland Avenue in Albany.
