High Priests of the Ethopian Orthodox Church in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The High Priests are wearing elaborate robes and are protected by hoods, head scarves, and umbrellas with tassels. One man is wearing the high hat of Orthodox priests. Ethiopia embraced Christianity in the 4th Century CE. Christianity was the state religion of Imperial Ethiopia, and by law all emperors had to belong to the Church, (1922).
