China - Image of Buddha

An ornate statue of Buddha in Lama Temple in Peking (Beijing), China. In the foreground are flowers and a low table with a line of bowls meant as offerings. Above, four banners are visible hanging from the ceiling. Lama Temple is the common term for the Yonghe Temple, one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist temples and monasteries in the world. This picture is probably from the Temple’s Hall of Harmony and Peace, which houses three giant bronze statues of the Buddha, representing the past, the present, and the future, (1934).
