View of the Alexander Hamilton United States Custom House in New York City. Four large sculptures can be seen at the entrance. The seated female figures are by Daniel Chester French (1850-1931) and represent America, Asia, Europe, and Africa. The building's upper cornice holds sculpture representing great shipping powers of the ancient and modern world including Greece, Rome, Phoenicia, Genoa, Venice, Spain, Holland, Portugal, Denmark, Germany (renamed Belgium after WWI), France and England.
