Capitol: Western Staircase Seen from Second Floor, Albany, New York

View from the second floor up the Great Western Staircase in the New York State Capitol. Through an elaborately carved, columned archway, the intricate banisters of the staircase are visible ascending to upper floors. Designed by Isaac Perry, the staircase took 600 stone carvers 13 years to complete. It was finished in 1896.
