Aerial photograph, no. 1 in a sequence, taken by plane flying across lower Manhattan from southeast to northwest a few days after the September 11 terrorist attack upon the World Trade Center, on September 15, 2001. On this date, parts of the site were still on fire.

This image shows the far west side of lower Manhattan. A boat, most likely a Coast Guard or Fire Department of New York vessel, travels toward the North Cove Marina at top right, which was damaged as a result of the attack.
