Erie Canal Survey, Rotterdam showing Van Patten and Lock No. 25

This is an ink, wash and charcoal map of a section of the Erie Canal in Rotterdam. The map is split into two views. The first view shows the Mohawk River, Lock No. 25, three buildings, the Road to Schenectady and a note describing an area conveyed by J.A. Marsellis, Hugh Mitchell and Gerina Schermerhorn. The second view shows the Mohawk River, two bridges, four buildings and the Road to Schenectady which runs parallel to the canal and the river. The red lines indicate courses and distances. The blue lines indicate canal right-of-way. The map also shows the properties of A.N. Van Patten, L. Schermerhorn and H.N. Van Patten.
