This is an ink, wash and charcoal map of a section of the Erie Canal in Rotterdam. It shows the Mohawk River, Van Slykes Island, two bridges and two Roads to Schenectady. The red lines indicate courses and distances. The blue lines indicate canal right-of-way. The map also shows the properties of F.P. Clute, Schoolcraft, Merselus, McMichael, Widow E. Vrooman, J.B. Schermerhorn, B. Schermerhorn, J.N. Merselus, J. Carl, Barhydt and Tomlinson.
