This is an ink, wash and charcoal map of a section of the Erie Canal in Watervliet. The map is split into two views. The first view shows the Mohawk River, West Troy, Green Island, two bridges, over forty buildings, Black Rock Street, Auburn Street, Erie Street, Ohio Street, Union Street, Water Street, Broad Street and the Road to Waterford. The second view shows the Hudson River, a long pier, a long basin, a series of locks, five bridges, over fifty buildings, Union Street, Ontario Street, Genesee Street, Owasco Street, Canal Street and Genva Street. The red lines indicate courses and distances. The blue lines indicate canal right-of-way. The map also shows the properties of V. Oothout.
