This is an ink, wash and charcoal map of a section of the Erie Canal in Rome. It shows a brook, a bridge, four buildings and the historic location where General Herkimer was mortally wounded on August 6, 1777. The red lines indicate courses and distances. The blue lines indicate canal right-of-way. The map also shows the properties of George Clarke, Snyder, Tryon, Burrows and Lot No. 1 and 5.
