Pheasant Chicks and Foster Mother, Rogers State Game Farm

View of a female pheasant that has adopted several chicks at the Rogers State Game Farm (now Rogers Environmental Education Center) in Sherburne, Chenango County, N.Y. The species of pheasant is unknown; it does not appear to be a ring-necked pheasant (Phasianus colchicus). Pheasants are indigenous to Asia. The date is unrecorded, but is probably 1931. This image was created to record the game-related activities of the New York State Conservation Department.
