Red pine plantation, St. Lawrence County

This field has been planted with seedlings of Red Pine (Pinus resinosa), sometime called Norway Pine. This particular field was planted by the Civilian Conservation Corps, camp S-95, stationed in Brasher Falls, N.Y. Pines were favored by the CCC for their fast growth, and red pines are used for both lumber and papermaking. This image was created to record the reforestation work of the Civilian Conservation Corps under the supervision of the New York State Conservation Department.
