New York City Hearings – April 21, 1972 (Afternoon). Recording of Arthur Liman examining Lynn Van Johnson II, a correction officer at Attica Prison before and during the uprising and retaking. Johnson has his counsel, Mark Benson present. Johnson discusses his experiences as a hostage and life in the yard during the uprising. Commission members Henix, Wadsworth, Guerrero, Rothschild, McKay, and Wilbanks ask follow-up questions. Johnson makes a final statement. WRVR radio reporter Dan Knox gives an overview of Johnson’s testimony. Arthur Liman begins examination of William Kunstler who discusses prisoner demands and negotiations from an Observer’s perspective.
