Recording of WRVR journalists Dan Mack and Adam Paul introducing the New York City Public Hearings of the New York State Special Commission on Attica. Chairman Robert McKay opens the hearings for the day. Henry Rossbacher summarizes his findings from interviews with correction officers. Topics include views of the prison and events related to the uprising, characteristics of correction officers, cultural background, training, pay structure, and working conditions. David Addision presents a report of prisoner grievances and underlying conditions leading up to the Attica uprising. Deputy General Counsel Arthur Liman and Commission members Henix, Marshall, and Carter ask follow-up questions.
