New York City Hearings – April 17, 1972 (Morning). Low audio quality. Recording continues David Addison’s presentation on inmate grievances and underlying conditions leading to the September 1971 uprising. Follow-up questions are asked by General Counsel Arthur Liman and Chairman Robert McKay. Audience member Mr. Henderson interrupts Addison. McKay speaks to the hearing audience members who want to make comments at the hearings. Mr. Henderson interrupts him. Addison makes a statement about the lack of diverse representation on the commission and continues with his presentation. Addison and Liman read letters exchanged between prison administration and inmates. Commissioner Oswald’s taped message from September 1971 is played during the hearing.
