Indian Woman with Basket and Bead Work. Onondaga Reservation, N.Y.

Although the woman was photographed selling baskets at the Onondaga Reservation, an expert has identified the basketry and bead work as classic Mohawk. A design on the pin cushion in the basket at her feet reads "Syracuse."
