Application of Army Nurse to the New York State Veterans' Home

Application of Civil War nurse Amelia Clayton to the New York State Veterans' Home. The Home served aged dependent veterans and their wives, veterans' mothers, veterans' widows, and army nurses who suffered from a "physical disability or other cause" that rendered them unable to care for or provide for themselves. Clayton, an Irish immigrant and resident of Brooklyn, served as a nurse during the Civil War, which entitled her to admission at the home for veterans.
