Dutch colonial council minutes, 27 July - 25 August 1645

Court proceedings. Jan de Fries vs. Gysbert de Leuw, slander ; both parties are ordered not to give offense to each other, on pain of being cashiered and loss of their pay. Jacob Roy vs. Symon Groot, boatswain of the Prince Maurice, for purchase of plaintiff's house ; judgment for plaintiff. Richard Smith vs. John Wilcox, for violation of contract in having traded at Sloop's bay ; referred to Isaac Allerton and Arent Corsen Stam for arbitration. Symon Dirckson Pos declares in court that the council of the colonie Renselaerswyck is a false council. Adriaen van der Donck's bill for loss of time and expenses is taxed at 70 days at 4 guilders a day, and 20 guilders for writing done in the colonie Renselaerswyck. (cont'd) [1645]

Court proceedings. Cornelis Teunisen, attorney for Jan de Fries, vs. John Wilcox, about a difficulty that arose between De Fries and the defendant on the road ; affidavits on both sides being submitted, defendant exhibited his arm to the court, and says that the minister's wife made the scar by striking him with a billet of wood. [1645]

Court proceedings. Christiaen Christiansen and Peter Petersen vs. Arent Corsen, on a joint note given by plaintiffs and defendant to Jacob Blenc, in Virginia, for pork received by them ; judgment for plaintiff. [1645]
