Adana, Asia Minor

View of the city of Adana after the destruction of houses in a massacre of Armenians by Turks, April 14-15 and April 25, 1909. Numerous buildings and homes are partially destroyed. Several minarets are visible in the background. Ethnic Armenians, largely Christian, experienced persecution from Ottoman Turks, culminating in the mass slaughter of 1.4 million Armenians in 1914-1915, (1909).
