N.Y. Portage. Genessee River. First Falls & R. R. Bridge.

View from below of the Upper Falls and railroad bridge on the Genesee River in current-day Letchworth State Park near Portageville, New York. The iron bridge was a replacement for the Portage Wooden High Bridge that claimed to be the highest wooden bridge in the world at the time. The iron bridge was completed in the 1870's after the wooden bridge was destroyed by fire.
