New York. Old saw mill with overshot water wheel, four miles south of Kingston, Ulster Co.

An old sawmill with a water wheel, four miles south of Kingston in Ulster County. The mill sits over a creek and is surrounded by woods. Poles can be seen supporting part of the structure.

Based on strong circumstantial information provided by the Hurley Heritage Society (2020), this sawmill and water wheel were identified as the mill build by Richard T. DeWitt around 1850. The grist mill was on the Greenkill near the foot of DeWitt Lake Road and was the second mill on the site.
