Split Rock Falls along Ausable River

View of Split Rock Falls on the Boquet River in Elizabethtown, Essex County in the Adirondack Mountains. The original caption incorrectly locates Split Rock Falls as being on the Ausable River. The exposed bedrock is sandstone and shale dating from the Silurian Period (the span of the Earth's history from about 438 to 408 million years ago). The date is unrecorded, but probably ca. 1900-1920. This image was created to record the landscape activities of the New York State Forest, Fish and Game Commission, Conservation Commission, or Conservation Department.
