View of fire lanes in a wooded area identified as "Cross Clearing," probably somewhere in the Adirondack Mountains. Numerous glacial erratics (boulders transported by glaciers during the Ice Age) are visible. The date is unrecorded, but is probably ca. 1933-1935, as the lanes were made by the Civilian Conservation Corps. This image was created to record the forest fire control activities of the New York State Conservation Department.
