[Aerial photograph, flying southeast along west side of lower Manhattan, 10/21/2001]

Aerial photograph, no. 4 in a sequence, taken by plane flying across lower Manhattan southeast along west side of lower Manhattan more than one month after the September 11 terrorist attack upon the World Trade Center, on October 21, 2001. By this point, most of the fires had been put out, and debris removal had begun.

6 World Trade Center is toward top center; note the large, dark hole in its roof. 5 World Trade Center (Dean Witter Building) sits to its left. 4 World Trade Center (Commodities Exchange Building) is immediately above 5 World Trade Center.

The white blotch toward center right is the result of light reflected from the large white tent housing the Fire Department of New York staging area at West and Vesey Streets.
