Home of Charles Proteus Steinmetz in Schenectady, New York. Steinmetz was a German-American mathematician and electrical engineer who pioneered the development of the alternating current and made discoveries in the understanding of hysteresis. He emigrated from Germany in 1889 and relocated to Schenectady, New York. He served as president of Schenectady's city council.
