Memorandum on current status of Hispanic Representation in New York State Government, August 18, 1980

Affirmative Action Office memorandum in response to Final Report by the Ad Hoc Committee on status of Hispanic representation in New York State workforce, with observations on lack of Hispanic representation in New York State government.

Executive Order 40 (1976) established a New York State government-wide affirmative action mandate and required every state agency to draft a plan for the achievement of equal employment opportunities for ethnic minorities and women. The following year, in response to the same executive order, the Department of Civil Service established a Merit System Affirmative Action Office. In 1981, all state agencies were required to submit a report detailing their affirmative action plans, and how the plans had been fulfilled.
