Letter to Captain J.P. Taylor from Hugh Gaynor sent on December 27, 1880, describing his service in the First Regiment of New York Volunteers in the Mexican War. Two affidavits follow: the first signed by J.P. Taylor on January 24, 1881, verifying the service of Hugh Gaynor; the second signed by Colonel Ward B. Burnett on February 02, 1881 verifying the service of Hugh Gaynor.
