This is an ink, wash and charcoal map of a section of the Erie Canal in Root. It shows the Mohawk River, Putnam’s or Richard’s Creek, Willow Basin, three bridges, ten buildings, an area conveyed to the state by Conradt Rickard and an unidentified road that crosses the canal. The red lines indicate courses and distances. The blue lines indicate canal right-of-way. The map also shows the properties of Simon Tull, Conradt Rickard, William Prentup and the Dutch Reformed Church of Albany.
