Holding down wasted land

View of two-year-old pine trees used to hold down wasted farm land in St. Lawrence County. During the 1920’s the State strongly encouraged the reforestation of idle farmland to prevent soil erosion. This image was created to record the reforestation efforts of the New York State Conservation Commission.
