American Legion forest, town of Ohio, Herkimer County

An unidentified man inspects young pine trees at the American Legion forest. The forest was planted by members of the American Legion, a veterans' group founded in 1919. During the 1920's, the State sponsored reforestation competitions among various community groups and clubs. This image was created to record the reforestation efforts of the New York State Conservation Department.
