American Legion forest, town of Ohio, Herkimer County

View of the road at the American Legion forest near Ohio, N.Y. The forest was planted by members of the American Legion, a veterans' group founded in 1919. During the 1920's the State sponsored reforestation competitions between clubs and civic groups which lead to the planting of many such forests. This image was created to record the reforestation efforts of the New York State Conservation Department.
