Christmas tree plantation of Norway Spruce planted as 2 yr. stock spring in 1931

A field of young Norway Spruce (Picea abies), intended for use as Christmas trees, are growing on this plantation in Livingston County. The field is maintained by the Civilian Conservation Corps, camp S-117, stationed in Birdsall, N.Y. This image was created to record the reforestation work of the Civilian Conservation Corps under the supervision of the New York State Conservation Department.
