Forest Stand Improvement in Schuyler County Woodlot

A worker from the Civilian Conservation Corps clears branches in the stand of White Ash (Fraxinus americana). This woodlot is undergoing Forest Stand Improvement (FSI). FSI is a method of improving the production of a woodlot by regular thinning. This is the work of CCC camp S-123, stationed in Beaver Dams, N.Y. This image was created to record the reforestation work of the Civilian Conservation Corps under the supervision of the New York State Conservation Department.
