This barren land most likely contained unviable farms that were purchased by the Resettlement Administration and are now slated to be reforested. A tree nursery is being set up to provide the young trees for the project. This image was created to record the reforestation work of the New York State Conservation Department in cooperation with the Resettlement Administration.
