This is a plantation of White Pines (Pinus strobus) on a reforestation area in Otsego County, N.Y. This area was planted by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1931, producing this lush covering six years later. White pines were favored by the CCC on such projects due to their rapid growth. This image was created to record the reforestation work of the Civilian Conservation Corps under the supervision of the New York State Conservation Department.
