Fence posts from dead chestnut trees

These posts were harvested from Chestnut trees (Fagaceae Castanea) to make fence posts for the Civilian Conservation Corps. The work was done by CCC camp S-125, stationed in Slaterville Springs, N.Y. The posts will go to make fencing around a waterhole of to protect a reforestation area. This image was created to record the reforestation work of the Civilian Conservation Corps under the supervision of the New York State Conservation Department.
