Memorandum about health measures at the "Aquarian Exposition" in Bethel, NY

Memorandum from Richard H. Mattox to Dr. Hollis S. Ingraham of the New York State Department of Health containing Mattox's first-hand observations about health measures taken at the "Aquarian Exposition" (Woodstock Festival) in Bethel, New York, in August 1969.

Mattox remarks very favorably on how services were delivered overall. Although many festivalgoers commented on the lack of food, the report cheerfully observes “no indication of a food shortage” as “the youths were generously sharing food and other supplies”. The report compliments the State and Local Police for showing “restraint, fairness and even good humor” and commends the festivalgoers for being “friendly, generous and unflappable to an extreme matched only by their appearance”.
