Representatives from the Conservation Department visited this nursery in Halstenbek, Germany, to learn agricultural techniques. The I. Heins Sohne nursery had an international reputation, providing plants to the Biltmore House as well as others. Here, four women weed the seedbeds while Wilhelm Heins, current owner of the nursery, watches on. This image was created to record the agricultural research performed by the New York State Conservation Department.
