New York City Hearing – April 19, 1972 (Morning). Recording continues Arthur Liman’s examination of Herman Schwartz. Schwartz testifies about the injunction, amnesty, negotiations, and level of prisoner organization. Additional questions posed by Commissioners McKay, Wilbanks, Broderick, Marshall, and Henix. Schwartz declines to make a final statement. McKay makes a brief statement on behalf of the McKay Commission that unverified and unsworn statements will not be accepted as testimony in this hearing. The session is recessed. Richard Clark, former Attica inmate makes a statement to the press at the hearing on behalf of the inmates in HBZ and about the McKay Commission. Richard Clark answers questions from the press. Arthur Liman makes a response to Richard Clark’s claims.
