New York City Hearings – April 25, 1972 (Afternoon). Recording continues Arthur Liman’s examination of New York State Police Captain Anthony Malovich who led the assault team on C- walk, and whose mission it was to ring the D-yard from the “B” block area. He describes the circumstances under which officers are allowed to shoot inmates, and the types of firearms used by the State Police. Commission members McKay, Carter, Henix, Wilbanks, and Wadsworth ask follow-up questions. McKay Commission Deputy General Counsel Arthur Munisteri examines Lieutenant Joseph Christian. Christian went into the hostage area as part of the rescue detail and was the first State Police officer in the D-yard hostage area. Christian discusses his experiences during the retaking and firearm use. Commission members Henix and Wadsworth ask follow-up questions.
