Deer River at Copenhagen

View of the Deer River at Copenhagen in Denmark, Lewis County. The view is toward downstream along a penstock from the nearby dam. A serge tank in a tall tower can be seen in the center back ground. A man is squatting on the penstock. The river gorge exposes about fifty feet of sandstone and shale dating from the Ordovician Period (the span of the Earth's history from about 505 to 438 million years ago). This image was created to record the waterpower activities of the New York State Conservation Commission.
