John Giorno with a "Dial-A-Poem" phone photograph

Description on back (not shown) reads "How the system works: the large tape recorder (right) holds the master tape containing 156 two minute poems from 13 living American poets. Giorno takes off from the master-file an individual poem which is housed in a small spool inside the casing below each phone. The poems are changed frequently so that callers don't hear the same poem constantly."
