Elk. DeBar Mountain, Inman, N.Y.

Elk in corral at De Bar Mountain Game Refuge during winter. The elk were freed when vegetation started growing. This was one of many attempts at re-stocking elk in the Adirondacks. The DeBar Refuge was established under the Game Refuge System. This 10,000 acre area was surrounded by a wire fence and also held white-tailed deer, bear, snow-shoe rabbits, grouse, and beaver.
