Effects of 1913 forest fire

The point on the Giant Range, in the Adirondack Mountains, were the forest fire of 1913 was stopped. The left hand side of the image shows the heavy forest growth untouched by fire. The right hand side shows the bare cliff, where the growth and soil was burned off. The 1913 fire was one of many that swept through the Adirondacks between 1903 and 1913.
